Why auto-apply tools need a human in the loop
An auto-apply tool saves time on the form. It can also send an answer that is wrong, and the employer reads that answer, not the tool. Keeping a person in the loop for the questions only that person can answer is what keeps the applications right.
What only you know
Some facts about you do not come from a resume, so no tool can know them:
- your notice period
- your expected pay and the lowest pay you would accept
- your work authorization, country by country
- whether you will need visa sponsorship
- whether you will relocate
Work rights, sponsorship and relocation depend on the country the job is in, so an answer for one country does not carry over to another.
Why a guess is not safe
A guess on a form becomes a statement to an employer. If the guess is wrong, the employer may ask you about it later, and you may have to explain it. An auto-apply tool that guesses does this again on every application it sends, because the same question comes back on every form.
A tool can still help with these answers. It can read your resume and suggest what your background shows, but the fact itself should come from you.
How a checkpoint works
When a form asks for a personal fact, the job waits and the question is put to you. The rest of the run goes on with other jobs. Your answer is saved and reused on every later application that asks the same thing, so each question is asked once.
You can see what the AI gave on each application in the side panel's Review, and correct any answer there. See when Aupply asks you for the full list of what goes to you.
Where AI still helps
A person does not need to answer every question. Questions about your background, questions that call for judgment and longer written answers can be answered by AI from your resume, as long as the AI does not give a personal fact. The line between the two is the one that matters.
What to look for in any tool
- It asks you for personal facts instead of guessing them
- It saves each answer and reuses it, so you answer once
- It lets you review and correct the answers it gave
- It records each application, skip and failure, so you can check them
- It states its daily limit and keeps to it
